A PEACE TREATY // Women // Added 2011/04/26 at 20:26
Each season, A PEACE TREATY travels to a particular region and seeks out local village artisans to create limited edition handmade accessories. The 2011 Fall retail season comprises of two collections, hailing from Nepal and India.
APT launches its third jewelry collection inspired by the Tuareg desert-dwelling people's Queen, Tin Hanan. Found when her tomb was excavated, Tin Hanan was buried draped in heavy gold necklaces, armband cuffs, coins, headdress and jewel-covered robes. Evoking her warrior-spirit and magnificent layers of jewels in all sizes and metals, A PEACE TREATY’s collection presents tribal and Tuareg-inspired pieces all hand-carved by desert artisan families using centuries-old sustainable techniques and recycled materials. With this collection, the designers continue to salute ancient disappearing traditions in metalsmithing and adornment featuring protective amulets, talismans, neckpieces, cuffs, heirloom earrings and stackable rings plated in gold, silver and gun-metal.
APT's Fall 2011 scarf collection presents whimsical cashmere prints and weaves - a result of the brand turning to the France of Les Trente Glorieuses. In a collection of playful and vibrant visual prints and woven patterns, APT channels this period of prosperity and optimism.
