Os Gemeos “Pra quem mora lá, o céu é lá” Exhibition Recap // Happening // Added 2010/05/20 at 15:08

Os Gêmeos (Portuguese for The Twins) are graffiti artist identical twin brothers (born 1974) from Sao Paulo, Brazil, whose real names are Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo. They started painting graffiti in 1987 and gradually became a main influence in the local scene, helping to define Brazil's own style. Their work often features yellow-skinned characters - taken from the yellow tinge both of the twins have in their dreams - but is otherwise diverse and ranges from tags to complicate murals. Subjects range from family portraits to commentary on São Paulo's social and political circumstances, as well as Brazilian folklore. Their graffiti style was influenced by both traditional hip hop style and the Brazilian pixaçao movement.

Os Gemeos unleashed their latest show across the Atlantic in Portugal named “Pra quem mora lá, o céu é lá” (To who lives there, heaven is there). From the looks of this exhibition hosted in Lisbon’s Museu Colecção Berardo, it appears to be as heavenly as the title indicates. Fans of the twins from São Paulo were greeted with another indoor haven for street art and music lovers. From floor to ceiling, Os Gemeos worked to paint and install interactive sculptures, installations and paintings that hooked the viewers directly into the colorful homeland (Brazil) that the duo hail from.
