One of the most frequently asked question  about 1973 is : « Why 1973 ? » .
Nicolas Frank, Thibaut Barbillon and Jérôme Plasseraud always answer : « why not ? ». Those « thirty-year», highschool buddys and soccer partners,  found themselves  around a computer to record some demos in 2007 ( including  “Simple Song (for a complicated girl)”, with no intentions of making a tribute to the seventies, but then again ….….

Even if you can find on their I-pods  the anthology of the Beatles, the Beach Boys « Pet sounds » and Joni Mitchells « Blue » , Prince, Bon Iver, The pussycats Dolls, Loney Dear, and Kanye West also get included in the playlist.

One thing is sure, 1973 teleport you through their music to sandy beaches which, if to be chosen, are surely in California. In order to arrive at that chosen destination, to begin,1973 exiled themselves to the “Hameau” studio floating somewhere in the middle of the French Perche countryside where during a two week retreat surrounded by barbecues and an end of summer feeling the band together with sound engineer Pierrick “old soul” Devin, and an influencial Marie-Anne Dudouit (their Producer and Publisher).

Began recording with some upright grating piano, mellotron, harmonium, 12-strings and electric guitars played with a bow Jimmy Page style, but also synthetizers-toys, Prophet 600 and  other rythm boxes, 1973 have made a music directory of eleven songs (with Sexy Plane, We are Nowhere and “Simple Song” a song  released on a previous EP).

Almost all the instruments are played by the band.
