Place D81
Starting as a concept out of a bedroom in Barcelona, Supremebeings DQ made sneakers by hand the old-school way for private clients throughout 2003 & 2004. Finding sneaker lovers in Barcelonas colorful clubland, if you met him and you liked sneakers you were probably that weeks victim. In total 52 pairs were made, 1 per week. The idea was to find people who were willing to pay with cash, flesh or a meal for a pair of sneaks.
Asking what people wanted rather than shoving a style upon them was the key. Then to see, if with limited resources, he could get them to pay for the endeavor and wear the shoes. Using second hand leather jackets and ties found in thrift shops, each pair was unique and was never to be made again. Elegant last shapes and materials as well as hand cut sole units epitomized the look. The soles were all glued and pressed using an oven and brute force. Each pair was then put in a box made from cardboard and plastic water bottles found in the street and delivered by hand to the client by DQ.
