> Can you briefly introduce yourself ?

My name is Charlotte Laplace, as known as « Le Chat Noir » by people I work with. I'm graduated from the Studio Berçot in Paris. I've always been passionated with historical fashion, by trends and lingerie. Corset mix all those universe, I was fascinated by the way they structure the body, that's why I started to learn by myself all about corsetery. I worked in a parisian trends office few years ago, then in a trendy magazine, now I dedicate all my time to creation and photoshoot style.

> How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do ?

When I was a child my mother teached me how to embroide and to sew by hand. I make all my doll's clothing. Since 5 years old  I've always drawn, thousands of paper sheets, always about fashion, customising my clothes, playing to be « Jean Paul Catier », « Lolita Lempicat » (all about cats, it never changed). I always loved to create, but I was convice fashion was not for me, and I started to study visual design. Coming in Paris made me change my mind...

> What are your sources or inspiration ?

I'm passionated about French revolution, military costumes, XIXth century, clothes are so interesting at this period, when dandies created the art of wearing. I'm also fond of  the Belle Epoque, all fashion between 20's and 50's and spanish Movida. I use to go for a walk in Paris streets, and all I see give me inspiration. Photographies, people, exhibitions, shops, magazines, movies...

> Fashion, what for ?

What you wear is what you are, appearence is important in relationships, it's the first thing people see about you.

> Which artists would you like to make discover with the readers ?

B., an illustrator I met few years ago,  he's like a brother to me, I love his work

Irina Ionesco, a photographer, I love the way she works with women.

Andy Julia, another photographer, his photos are poetry for me.

> Your news? Your projects ?

I'm ending my lingerie collection called « Parisienne » for january 2011, then I will work with some photographers for exhibitions, and start another collection. And I think about a lot of travels.

> Your favorite adresses in your city ?

In Paris there are a lot of beautiful places.
- Le Loir dans la théière or Le Trésor, 2 tea rooms in Le Marais where I met my friends or my clients to have a tea and a pastry.

Fleux, a fantastic shop with all of trendy design decoration in Le Marais, I can spent hours there.

107 Rivoli, the library of Decorative Art Museum, they have an incredible choice of books

> Favorite drink?

Champagne with violet

> Describe a successful evening/night ?

Get diner in a beautiful place or a parisian brasserie, then sharing a bottle of red wine with friends, listening some swing music, getting a good time.

> A motto ?

Life is too short to be small
