Today, we present you Esther Bonte, young 23 years old french designer, and her scarf's collection 'Las Vegas'. Interview summarize.
"Las Vegas is unnatural, utopian...everything there is an illusion. It’s a tempting city… attractive because of the lights, the business and the appearance. Paradise or Hell according to your own personal ethics."

> Mr Blog : Hi Esther! Before we start, congrats and thank you for granting me a little of your time. So, first of all, can you describe to our readers your first impression when you learnt that you had won.
Esther Bonte : I jumped everywhere, I smiled and I called my boyfriend !!!
> Mr Blog : Ah ah, great! So, can you briefly introduce yourself now?
Esther Bonte : My name’s Esther Bonté, I’m 23 and live in Paris. I’m a student at the DUPERRE Arts school and an intern at Citroën, in the colors and materials service, where I create patterns and trends for future cars. Very interesting!
Originally from Brittany, I graduated from high school with a major in Creative Arts, which led me to design and creation. I then went to Lille for an advanced vocational diploma in Textile.

> Mr Blog : How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do ?
Esther Bonte : I created my scarf collection after returning from a trip to Las Veas last year.
I designed a collection of 12 models around the theme of Paradise/Hell duality in Las Vegas. This city is unnatural, utopian; everything there is an illusion. It’s a tempting city… attractive because of the lights, the business and the appearance. Paradise or Hell according to your own personal ethics. What I tried to do with these scarves was to highlight the very unique esthetics of this town, in opposition with the surrounding nature.
I chose black and white to symbolize good and evil. The idea of scarves came very simply, because I’m very obsessive about scarves… I collect them. This collection felt very logical and simple. I wanted to create a marketable product, combining my passion for design and textile.

> Mr Blog : What are your sources or inspiration ?
Esther Bonte : Fashion and esthetics of the 20th century. Films by Godard and David Lynch, vintage cars, Bjork, Madonna in the 80s-90s, Lenny Kravitz, Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, Anna Karina… the Rolling Stones, the Beatles. Photo in general and fashion photo.
My favorite fashion designers: Mc Queen and Christian Lacroix.

Esther Bonte : It’s one of my motivations in life! Not only fashion but creation. The need to discover life through your body, spirit and soul…
Everything is a miracle, we’re all miracles, nature is a miracle… so I’m very eager to understand how it all works (good things AND bad things) to try and make something of it…

Esther Bonte : Creation of the estherbonté website and e-shop, have my brand sold in boutiques…
Get my professional diploma with my project about seduction and cars. Make pictures, maybe take a one-year work-based course.

> Mr Blog : Which artists would you like to make discover with the readers ?
Esther Bonte : I like photography and would like to introduce you to two photographers. The first one is Laurent Nivalle. At the beginning, he was a car photographer at Citroën, he then moved to more fashion-oriented projects. A self-made man, he’s got an true esthetic vision of image and knows how to capture colors and harmonies…

The second is Audrey Lezerman, also a self-made artist. Mostly from the world of fashion, she often works in B & W.
She tells us stories, in a very minimalist universe, managing to capture each model’s personality. Looking at her pictures is a very emotional experience.

Last but not least, I’d like to tell you about brand PHENUM, a new brand from Brittany.
It’s very special to me… for its obvious graphic qualities! But also because one of the founders of the brand (Ific) is a graphic artist for Kana Beach and also my ex-mentor!
