> How did you come upon the Who's Next Blog and its Young Designer contest?
The director of my Domus Academy master course suggested me to join this great oppurtunity.
> What was your reaction when you found out you'd won?
First I didn't realize I won; when I read once again I understood and I get enthusiastic about it!
> Can you briefly introduce yourself ?
In 2009, after my first Degree in Industrial/Interior Design at NABA in Milan, I decided to continue my studies at Domus Academy in the Fashion Accessories Master course. Then I had an intership in the N°21's (by Alessandro Dell'Acqua) style office and at the same time I decided to developed my first collection of bags for my brand, ilariamai. In 2010 I was selected among the Vogue Talents students.

> How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do?
I started to design clothes and shoes when I was child: during my primary school I always designed a lot of outfits for my teacher, long dresses and decolletées...but growing up I completely forgot this passion. Just after my Industrial Design degree, I redescovered my first love for Fashion and especially for shoes and bags.
I always wanted to design a kind of uniform just for me!
> What are your sources of inspiration ?
I'm very inspired by the Image. So, my strongest feelings come from Cinema.
Bergman, Godard, Pasolini, Fassbinder: they are my favorite.
> Fashion, what for ?
Fashion first is always a way to explore one own personality and to build an identity which could be not only a superficial image, but a real life experience through one's own.

> Which artists would you like to make discover with the readers ?
I recently discovered a young talanted italian painter I'm workng with for clouds|comme l'oiseau capsule collection: Ester Grossi.
Another two great women artists I love: Francesca Woodman and Sarah Moon.
> Your news? Your projects ?
I would like so much to open my "comme l'oiseau project" to as many creatives as possible, as I'm already doing.

In the next future, I'm going to present some other variations upon my “format” model in order to exhaust all the possibilities of the structure. When I will feel to have reached that point, I wuold like to expand my creativity to other fashion accessories. My biggest desire is to design shoes too!
> Your favorite adresses in your city ?
The garden of Belgiojoso Palace in Porta Venezia, my favorite park in Milan, and the Bella Soprano Library.
> The one question you’d like to be asked ?
Does God exist?
> Favorite drink?
Green tea

> Describe a successful evening/night ?
Green tea + cigarettes, watching a costume drama film.
> The thing more the nutcase whom you did see ?
My very old grandfather ,with a headscarf ,was trying to entertain me and my sisters, when we were child, putting upside down with the body up in the air in the park.
> Your last concert ?
The Handmade Festival in Guastalla.
> Your last exhibition ?
The Franko B exhibit at the PAC Gallery, in Milan.
> A motto ?
Memento audere semper.
> One last word ?
Paris, I'm coming!!
