We love maxjenny

> Can you briefly introduce yourself ?

Maxjenny : My name is Maxjenny Forslund, autodidact fashion designer, from the School of Design, in Denmark. I specialize in folding fabric from high-quality sustainable materials, and in reducing seams, wearability, the contrast between blackness and colours. I strive to avoid sharp boundaries between the seasons. Style that works well transcends seasonal trends.

> How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do ?

Maxjenny : I actually graduated as a furniture/product designer from the Shool of Design. I have always been interested in fashion on a happy-shopping-amateur-wannabe-level. Some time after my graduation, I started to work on a project called 'Seven-Seven'. I  designed seven articles (products and furniture, handtufted carpets, wallpaper coffetable, sofa, glassworks etc…) in seven colours. I created one outfit in seven different colours (obviously), and after that I was hooked. It actually looked like a collection. I realized 'hey I can do this'. I signed up for a fashion fair abroad - and here I am.

> What are your sources or inspiration ?

Maxjenny : The source comes out of limits. Interesting technics and intelligent materials. Playing with reduce seams. My inspiration comes from boundaries, and the texture in fabrics. I primarily work with drapings and folding squares. I get very creative with limits. Limits challenge me. If you have the sky, it is hard to choose, and you can get blurry.

> Fashion, what for ?

Maxjenny : To be able to express yourself and show the rest of the crowd that you really dear. Trust yourself!

> Which artists would you like to make discover with the readers ?

Maxjenny : Always and always The revival of the 80´s …

> Your news? Your projects ?

Maxjenny : My rainponchoes made from pet fibres are, as I write, exhibited at '10+ design Forecast' (the current exhibition at Danish Design Center in Copenhagen) – that to me is BIG. Next project is to translate my colourful collection of recycled pet bottle fibre fabric, onto a collection of smooth jersey wear, with the same brilliance.

> Your favorite adresses in your city ?

Maxjenny : I love Copenhagen and especially Kødbyen, (the White Meatpcking District of Vesterbro/Copenhagen) and Carlsbergs by the old brewing area. It is starting to be filled with galleries, modern dance and more! It is truly a treasure.

> The one question you’d like to be asked ?

Maxjenny : Do you want to make a collaboration with….?

> Favorite drink?

Maxjenny : The perfect Pisco Sour from Peru to get things started, and  always always bubbles/champagne.

> Describe a successful evening/night ?

Maxjenny : Dining at home with friends, or meeting out, have drinks at  various receptions in Kødbyen (the White Meatpcking District of Vesterbro/Copenhagen), dressed in a non black dress (as everyone else is wearing black, and they forget that their neighbour is in black too), mingling and viewing great art.

> Your last concert ?

Maxjenny : Gotan Project at Vega.

> Your last exhibition ?

Maxjenny : 10+ design Forecast, a huge exhibition at Danish Design Center, about design in the 21th century.

> A motto ?

Maxjenny : Hard work pays off, and always see things positive.

> One last word ?

Maxjenny : Give love and you shall receive love
