Can you briefly introduce yourself ? Who are you in real life?

My name is Morgan Kirch, I'm a Young Designer and I launched my own hight range ready-to-wear label a few months ago. I just finished Esmod Lyon, and I already own a store, at the Village des Créateurs in Lyon, because I won the 2011 1st prize of its Talents de Mode contest.


How did you come upon the Who's Next Blog and its Young Designer contest? What was your reaction when you found out you'd won?

A friend of mine told me there was a Young Designers contest and I decided to take part in it.
When I found I'd won, I couldn't realize and I just remembered myself that before that I was visiting the trade show as a student.


What made you decide to step into this profession?

Ever since I was young, I've always been curious about arts professions and I've been interested in contemporary art, architecture and design… But what decided me for fashion is the connection between body and person. The reflection and the approach we want to have in front of the item.


Fashion, what for ?

Fashion is a means of expression, a way to convey a feeling, for me it's the way to tell who I am and to communicate with others.
I don't consider fashion as an art because there are too many technical pressures. Thus it can't be an artwork but it means for me to look towards others.


Your favorite addresses in your city?

In Lyon : Le domo ; in Paris : La Maison Blanche.


Your last concert ?

My last concert was Nina Hagen !!!


Your last exhibition ?

The Contemporary Art Biennale in Lyon : an artist... Christian Lhopital.




Where would you like to travel ?

Hong Kong !!! 


Social networks addict ?

NO ! I dislike those communications media, even if I use them a lot to give my friends some news… it's a way to say quickly to 500 people what you've done !


Describe a successful evening/night?

A successful evening combines several people simply meeting around a drink…or two… listening to music jerks on Youtube.


Friday night out, what’s you favourite drink?

The Bellini  : champagne, peaches juice, sugar cane and a raspberry for fun...


Your news and plans for the future?

Of course I actively prepare the Who's Next trade show, I will also be present on Salon Milanais and exhibited in February in the Galerie Joyce at Grand Palais for the 10 years of the Village des Créateurs...
