Can you briefly introduce yourself ? Who are you in real life?
I am Odélie Chan, designer of original handmade jewelry. I live in Paris and I launched my label in 2008.
How did you come upon the Who's Next Blog and its Young Designer contest?
Who's Next Blog has been recommended to me by friends a few years ago and I discovered the interesting opportunities that this blog offers to Young Designers and also the possibility of discovering respective universes from foreign designers.
What made you decide to step into this profession and to create jewels?
I've always loved the work of research before an idea achievement, combining materials and trying to go together well to find a possible harmony, it is an exhilarating process. I love jewels and more typically, the wish of designing and realizing jewels came from a frustration not to find items I wanted in shops. Creation represents a true exutory.
Fashion, what for?
Fashion for making everyone's eyes shine. For those who are wealthy as well as those who aren't.

Which artists would you like to introduce here ?
Without a moment's hesitation, my artistic family "WEIRDATA", an independant and talented team including musicians, movie makers, designers and photographers, each member having his own peculiarity.
I had a crush on Fabien Keli, magician-photographer. I worked with him on my two last collections. Jis work is surprising.

Your last concert ?
"Little Dragon" @Maroquinerie, Paris.
Your last exhibition ?
I running out of time…but the next one will probably be Yayoi Kusama at Centre Pompidou.

Where would you like to travel ?
My next destination will be Japan but Mongolia is a fascinating country too.
Social network addict ?
I try not to spend too much time in front of my computer screen. I grant social networks in my everyday life. We - Young Designers - cannot deny the visibility they offer us. They are work tools allowing me to keep my followers informed.
Describe a successful evening/night?
A successful evening is a simple one, with people I like, some good music to dance on and to escape from our thoughts. An assortment of crakers, laughs and underarm sweat rings.
Friday night out, what’s you favourite drink?
My aloe vera drink at the bottom of my bag.
Your news and plans for the future?
New collections, collaborations… always more…stay tuned.
