This week, meet PAGANPOETRY !

> How did you come upon the Who's Next Blog and its Young Designer contest?
San from MelleSan made me discover the trade show and the contest.
> What was your reaction when you found out you'd won?
Quietly ecstatic!
> Can you briefly introduce yourself ?
I’m Diane, 30 years old. I was born in a very creative family (architect, carpenter, jeweller …). I studied Fine Arts, environmental design and landscape architecture. With my degree in my pocket, I worked three years in this field, but it was time for a change. Since I was a child I’m passionate about ethnology and native tales (I was fascinated by Paul Emile Victor’s Apoutsiak . I’ve always been drawn to artisanat, crafting, model and all sorts of objects making. I started my brand last year (May 2010) with the support of an incubator (Astrolabe Conseil), which was very helpful! And here I am!

> How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do ?
Since childhood, I was always doing some bricolage, with everything…I made my first leather feathered amulet in 2008 I guess, I was still working as a landscape-architect at this time. Making jewelery is something that came bit-by-bit, in a very organic way.
> What are your sources of inspiration ?
Everything that is pagan and poetic! Nature, Native cultures, Inuit tales, Balinese theater, Orient, Japanese classic literature, antique and 19th century decadence, The words and the music of Joanna Newsom, Björk, Fever Ray, Sufjan Stevens, Mariee Sioux, Animal Collective… And a few friends that I consider my muses.

> Fashion, what for ?
For beauty, against boredom, for motionless travels
> Which artists would you like to make discover with the readers ?
Photographer: Ellen Rogers
Writer: Emilie Noteris
Art&Fashion: Chromium Dumb Belle
Music: Joanna Newsom
> Your news? Your projects ?
More collaborative work with the photographers and artists I love, a new collection in which I explore new to me techniques (very excited about that), and an e-shop dedicated to unique and bold pieces.
> Your favorite adresses in your city ?
Le musée du Quai Branly

Le jardin d’agronomie tropicale
(a friend of mine made me discover this quite mysterious garden)

Le parvis de la BNF, (perfect for kite flying!)

> The one question you’d like to be asked ?
Can I take you to the Great North?
> Favorite drink?
Beer and Genmaicha (not together of course!)
> Describe a successful evening/night ?
Dear friends, a concert, long walks into the night.
> The thing more the nutcase whom you did see ?
The last concert of Fever Ray, crazy intense and breathtaking!
> Your last concert ?
Sufjan Stevens à l’Olympia, pretty intense too
> Your last exhibition ?
Odilon Redon, Prince du Rêve au Grand Palais

> A motto ?
"If there is no solution, it is because there is no problem."
