This week, meet Pola Thomson !
> How did you come upon the Who's Next Blog and its Young Designer contest?
A friend encourage me to enroll.
> What was your reaction when you found out you'd won?
I'm still realizing it, astonishing. Is such an honor and great chance.

> Can you briefly introduce yourself ?
I am Pola Thomson, Chilean, NY based fashion designer. I have a BA as designer in the Chilean Catholic University, short curses at CSM London, PARSONS and FIT in NY. Got couture training by private lesson I took at Laura Rivas Vial atelier, a Chilean couturier that represented Nina Ricci back in Chile during the 70's. I have also worked in the editorial industry, as fashion stylist and correspondent for several magazines.
> How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do ?
I believe so, I ask for a sewing machine for Christmas when I was around 10, never had the chance to use it! nobody in my family knew how to sew or related with arts and crafts.
> What are your sources of inspiration ?
Chilean landscapes and society.
The magic and permanence of nature.

Art, films and music.
Life and the experience that comes within as sallying throw it.
> Fashion, what for ?
For dreaming, for joy, for freedom.
> Which artists would you like to make discover with the readers ?
The photography of my friend Foch

> Your news? Your projects ?
This is my very fist time showing in Paris, this is the biggest challenge in my career.

> The one question you’d like to be asked ?
I would like to be asked if I would choose the same career if I had different options…
I definitely would do it, over and over again. Fashion is beyond choosing, you're meant to be or not.
> Favorite drink?
Champagne!

> Describe a successful evening/night ?
I usually enjoy the most evenings that can't predict at all, though any time shared with my dear ones is time that I deeply embrace as successful.
> Your last concert ?
A piano concert by the Chilean Claudio Bravo
> Your last exhibition ?
Color Moves: Art and Fashion by Sonia Delaunay at The Cooperhewitt National Design Museum New York.
