> Mr. Blog : Hi Ysterike! Before beggining, congrats and thank you for granting me a little of your time. So, first of all, can you describe to our readers your first impression when you learnt that you had won?
I have to tell you something. To be honest with you, the day I recieved the who’s next answer was so bad! Nothing was really good: The wake up, the coffee, people, the weather, and my mood..
So I decided to go to the beach to take some good vibes, energies from the nature and the sea.
When I arrived it was raining.. Aaaargh! So at this moment it was raining in my mind to !!!
I took my car and went back home. When I arrived I just wanted to go to bed and don’t go out anymore.
But as a real geek, I need to check my e-mails every five minutes. So I checked all my mails, found the good one, and I was such in a bad mood that I didn’t read correctly. I didn’t understood I won, I just read: »Thanks for your participation, blablabla..» Ok that’s normal, if your day start badly, it has to end the same way! Isn’t it? Then I read again... WAIIIIT!!! I was shocked!!! I saw my name, and Ysterike and winner! Youuuuupiii!!! I cried like a baby and called all my friends to explain how much Who’s Next is important for me and for Ysterike’s futur. I felt relieved and excited: a true moment of happiness. I wish everyone to have the same feeling one day.
Finally at the end of the day i can say that it was just aperfect day!
> Mr. Blog : Can you briefly introduce yourself ?
My name is Sarah. I’m 24 years old. My fashion addiction started very young maybe when I was 3 or 4 years old when my mum teached me how to put clothes on. Everytime I had to be dressed up to the nines. As long as I can remember I always paid attention to the way I looked, to clothes people were wearing, to the label, every details, to the fabric. I also draw for a long time.
So I graduated from Esmod 2008. I did my intership at la Redoute in the Fashion Trend office. It was really nice. I had to search what was interesting in the RTW and what could be designed for la Redoute’s office(Trends, colour, fabrics, patterns..) Then I became fashion assistant of Valerie Barkowski.
I travelled in India during 5 months. We were based in Jaipur to make the sourcing pattern or fabric, creativity and the entire production. This is a kind of travel which change your life. When I came back to France I was already thinking about Ysterike.
I went to Italia during 2 months to learn Italian. It was great, Rome is wonderfull and Milano is amazing.
But because you always need to return, I came back home. The idea of creating my own label started to really grow up.
Ysterike was born in February 10. This is my first collection. So let me introduce you a crazy and funny girl: Ysterike.
> Mr. Blog : How did you start designing clothes? Is it something you’ve always wanted to do ?
I have always drawn, and as long as I can remember, my mother was obsessed about the way I dressed when I was young. I always had to be preppy and smart. So fashion obession started very very early.
I have always known what I wanted to do. Determination & passion guide my life. So I naturally decided to study fashion.
> Mr. Blog : What are your sources or inspiration ?
Sources of inspiration are everywhere, in music, in travels, in your life, people you meet. Just be openminded. You have to be like a sponge about informations, listen and take advice from people, then make your own opinion. Fashion works the same way: you have to be curious, to discover a lot of things to finally find your own style.
My inspirations:
Travels, history of fashion, catwalks, magazines, blogs, music, streets, capital cities, night, all kind of pictures, graphics books, vintages shops, men clothes...
My Favorites designers:
Miu Miu, Prada, YSL, Chloé, Marc Jacobs, Paul Ka, Proenza Schouler
& Luella.
